We headed off from Cooktown along Battlecamp Road. We stopped at Endeavour Falls not far out - nothing special about these ones. Lunch was beside Lake Emma in Lakefield National Park, well back from the lake bank as this park is full of crocs!
We arrived in Laura on Friday for the Bull Ride behind the pub on Saturday afternoon/evening. We had a bit of a lazy Saturday morning - reading, listening to music, riding the motorbike (both of us - I still have the L plates on , although I did get up to third gear and about 40kph this day!).
We walked up to the pub just after 3pm and the activities were underway. Initially they had a snake man - "I hate Snakes", then spear throwing before they got the junior bull ride out of the way. They then had the stockman rides and then finally the senior bull ride. We'd never seen anything like this before and it was interesting to watch. Amazing how some of them stayed on as long as they did. The day was a bit unorganised and drawn out but when the action was on it was good. We had a few beers there and a steak sandwich before heading back to the camp.
