On our way to Karumba we stopped for a walk around Croydon and to watch the rodeo at Normanton. These rodeos and campdrafts have all the same strange people with their shirts tucked into there jeans, boots and hats - what is regional Australia coming to?!
Karumba was full of Grey Nomads many who come for 3-6 months over the dry season. We were lucky to get a spot at the caravan park. We went on a guided walk with others from the park which was really enjoyable. The guide, Ray, is a regular camper and knows a lot about the area and its flora, fauna and sea. We even got a chocolate slice at the halfway point of the walk.
We watched the sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria with a couple of schooners at the pub - this is a popular past time for visitors and locals.
Whilst in Karumba we noticed a leak under the car which we were able to get fixed by a really nice bloke who slotted us in when I said we'd hoped to leave that day. Must say so many of the people up north are really nice and friendly.
