Happy New Year's Eve! Started the day helping Michela make all the food (lots and lots of yummy food!) for their party tonight. We made this type of bruschetta with crunchy bread and tomatoes, basil, oil and balsamic vinegar, the juice from the tomatoes, basil, oil and vinegar mix soaks into the bread and it soooo yummy!! Also we made marscapone cheese (a little bit like Philadelphia cheese) with lime and capers. Spread the cheese on top of toasted bread circles and put salmon over the cheese (I was told they were a big hit!!) I didn't help with the meat as that was going to be cooked later when the guests arrived. Then I got ready and went to a New Years party of a family friend of Michela and Massimo's. Everyone was very nice at the party and the boy whose party it was had a very very cute dog! We are lots of food (sandwiches, chocolate, pandoro, chocolate salami, chocolate cake) and had a good time! At midnight we could see fireworks from Monza and other people lighting fireworks (fireworks are not illegal in Italy if you buy them from the shops and in Naples they have a tradition where you shoot a bullet in the air in New Years) I went home at about 12:40 though as I was tired.
