Today we decided to take a day off. Even though there was little other management at the resort we felt a bit like we had been left holding the baby, and it wasn't even our baby! No one had asked us to become the joint GM, no one was paying us to be joint GM so hell we were off to the beach to actually try and get a sun tan. One thing we found was that even though we were now in shorts and T shirt every day we hadn't caught the sun at all. I had such white legs that they reflected the sun to a painful level when you tried to look at them, it didn't help that the Indian girls called me 'white like chicken' either. I had to grill my drumsticks quick before we left for China which was going to be chilly.We took off on the moped to meet Mark on the beach and spent most of the morning lying on deck beds in the sun. I decided to go for a swim on my own but didn't want to leave my sticks on the beach because I knew the sell-your-own-grandma vendors would just nick them and try to sell them on. After a while Vincent took the plunge and we spent a great time jumping over the huge waves and trying to ride them back to shore. I think I swallowed half the sea water so no worries about a salt deficiency in the next ten years.After a bit we decided to go back to the resort...But half way home Vincent stopped the moped and said 'your go!' I knew the theory and had worked out the leaning to steer from being a passenger but it was scary and great fun to be sitting on the front. Vincent held the handle bars around me to stop any extreme steering and I took off slowly along the road. I got the hang of it quite well and drove us most of the way home, but I was quite wobbly and didn't go very fast. I can't wait for another go though. JThis evening was our final chance to go to Paradise bar. I was worried that people might be upset so we just went for a bit, had a dance and a drink and slipped out at the end. It was a nice night and we got an address for Jeff and Simon so we can send them the promised postcards.
