Woke up around 7am and read in bed until it was late enough to start the generator. I had a shower and Nick did the final water top up and emptied the toilet then we packed up and hit the road. It took a while a say goodbye to all the adopted grandparents at the camp that we'd met but we were on the road by 930am. We stopped in Longreach for lunch and to top up on groceries. It is a great town virtually in the middle of Queensland and although it's quite small it has a lot of traffic passing through it. We found a great bakery for lunch and sat inside to eat. Then we found Country Target and got the kids some more long pants as we have had to start throwing clothes out as they have too many rips and holes! We found an IGA and re -stocked our pantry then hit the road again. We reached Winton around 3.30pm and found a free camp called Long Waterhole without any difficulty. The camp was massive - no facilities but peaceful, safe and plenty of space for the kids to kick a ball around. The kids shot down to the waterhole while Nick and I set up and had a coffee, then Nick took them all for a walk while I had a read in the sun. A herd of cows came down to the waterhole to drink just as the sun began to set and the view was quite magical. Nick played footie with the boys while I cooked dinner and then we watched TV until bed as we had good reception. So far Queensland has been a great state to travel through and everyone is loving it. Today is our 6-month anniversary for being on the road - I hope the next 6 months doesn't pass too quickly!!
