It's like having a newborn again!! Another night spent getting up at regular intervals to toilet the dog, which is fine because she's very quick at having a wee once she goes outside but it's the refusing to go back to sleep which is exhausting!! At 5 am I gave up getting her back to sleep and instead got dressed and sat outside with her until the rest of the family was awake. By 730 am I was desperate for coffee and warmth and so made coffee, which got Nick out of bed. Throughout breakfast the kids did nothing but niggle at each other and so I took time out and went for a walk around the dam. It took me about an hour but the weather was beautiful, the scenery stunning and the peace and quiet bliss!! By the time I reached home I had a new resolve to train the dog (or more likely adapt my sleep pattern!) We spent the morning completing schoolwork but no one was on fire today so we had a lunch break and then carried on into the afternoon. Nick lit the fire for lunch and made everyone toasted Jaffles in the fire then took the kids off for a walk with the dog while I had an afternoon nap. After half an hour of trying to fall asleep I gave up and made a chilli and just as I finished Nick returned. The neighbour came over and gave us a box of kindling as they were leaving in the morning. They had an 18-month-old fox terrier that played with Tally while we chatted. Tally loved it and after an hour later of running around was absolutely exhausted. We lit the fire and had dinner sitting around it then the kids went inside to play card games and Nick and I listened to music while we watched the stars. Anna came out and fell asleep on Nick so we eventually moved inside to do the dishes and shower the kids. Time seemed to disappear while doing nothing but star gazing so the kids were late to bed and fell asleep straight away. Katharine read for a little bit while Nick went off to top up our water supply and she was fast asleep by the time he was finished. Only Tally to go and she slept right up until I turned the light off - it's a good job she's so cute!!
