Woke up early and had our last cup of coffee overlooking the bay. We had breakfast and packed up and were on the road by 9.30am. We took the 'Grand Pacific Drive', the coastal route to Kiama and it was very pretty and scenic. We reached Kiama by 11am and checked into a small but lovely caravan park nestled between two beaches on a bit of a cliff. We have views of the ocean from our annex as long as no one parks their car in the driveway in front of us! We had lunch and browsed the internet for a while - it's amazing how much we had missed it at Huskisson! It's very warm again today (NSW has an average of 24 degrees set for the next 10 days!!) and Kiama was looking stunning in the sun. The town is built along ragged coastal cliffs with little beaches everywhere. We walked to the lighthouse at Blowhole Point and watched the Blow Hole for a while but it wasn't blowing today! As we walked around to the Basin we passed a fantastic swimming pool built into the rocks. We dipped our toes in but it was very cold! We walked around Kiama Harbour and a fresh fruit and veg market was just setting up - the food stalls looked awesome! At the end of the harbour was another natural swimming pool built into the cliff. Two people were braving the temperatures here and the kids wanted to go in but luckily didn't have their bathers! We walked into town and found an ice-cream shop (bribery for walking so far!) and a bookshop where we found some more textbooks for the kids. On the way home we stopped off at the park for a play and eventually came home for a coffee. Unfortunately the Engel settings had been knocked in the car and all the milk was frozen so no coffee!! We found the van surrounded by ducks when we got back and we gave them some bread as they were trying to nibble our toes! We had a chat to one of the neighbours and watched a full moon come up over the ocean then made dinner. Nick zipped into town to buy some milk and bread for breakfast (the ducks ate it all!) while I showered the kids and then we sat and watched a bit of TV before bed. Kiama is one of the nicest towns we have visited so far so we are very happy we are here for a week.
