Saturday 26th September - Wasting Time in Carcassonne!
Well what to do for the next 90 minutes? We wandered back from the station and watched the canal boats in the harbour basin. Some boats were going through the lock and others tying up to stay for a bit. All of the boats come in stern first and tie up to the quay and are quite tightly packed so they don't swing.
We chatted to a couple from the Isle of Wight and reminisced about our time there last time we came to Britain. This was their first holiday on board the canal boat and they had had a few problems but the guys from Le Boat were quick at fixing them.
Makes me want to do an extended holiday on a boat again but Jan is not that keen.
We then headed back down the main shopping street. We had and hour to kill, remember! We went into most shops and eventually decided as it was almost midday and we weren't going to get lunch in Limoux then we had better eat a croissant. So I bought a Mille Feule for Jan and a pastry thingy pour moi and we headed back to the harbour to eat and watch the boats. Too hot so off came the tops.
Luckily we had finished the eating when we heard a hello and David and Marie came along with their bags in tow all ready to get the bus to the airport.
Seems they had been watching the same boats at the same time as we had and after yesterdays canal boat trip they thought that they would be very good on a canal boat when they compared others fluffing the tying up to go through the lock!!
It was almost 12.30pm and we said our goodbyes to them and scuttled off for the train.
