Friday 25th September - Croisieres-Repas sur le Midi
We paid for our lunch trip and bought back memories of the lunch trip that we did with Jane & Paul on the Briare Canal in 2004. Lots of French people and us.
Well as it turned out there was a couple from Scotland on board and initially they were sitting behind us but the attendant saw that we were turning round and talking to them so he asked us to shift to a table for the four of us.
David and Marie were their names and we yakked all the way up and all the way back. They were in Carcassonne for 3 days celebrating David's birthday, and were off home tomorrow.
We were given a glass of champers with Curasaio in it as a welcome on board. The menu gave us a choice of either of 2 entrees, 2 mains and then 2 desserts.
We bought a bottle of red wine to go with it all and when the food came it was delicious and in line with the food that we had had yesterday up in La Cite.
The trip itself was nice and relaxing. The boat went up river and through the La Douce lock. It turned around and headed back the way we had come.
There were people cycling along the canal path and the 100 year old Plane Trees planted every 5 m or so all of the way along offered shelter from the sun.
We got back and exchanged email addresses with David and Marie and said our goodbyes and headed home to pack the box and take it to the Post Office.
We will be eating at home again tonight and have bought salad stuff and tuna.
