Thursday 24th September - Basilica de St Nazaire
Out onto the street and wandering around these narrow alleys and we spied a Best Western hotel and probably the best of those that we have seen.
Around the corner and there was the Cathedral and there was singing coming from the building. We just arrived too late to hear the music as the Russian Choir had just finished their rehearsal.
The Basilica was built in the 11th and 12th centuries and is the jewel in the Medieval Cite. The building style is Gothic but with a Romanesque touch to the exterior but it is the stained glass inside that takes your breath away and is reputed to be the finest stained glass work in all of southern France!
