Thursday 24th September - Aude Gate
We had had quite enough of all the walking on uneven cobbles and had tired legs and feet so we headed downhill towards the Aude Gate which is on the opposite side of the Cite to the Narbonne Gate which we entered the Cite by.
We finally found it and it appears to be little used by the state of the cobbles that we encountered on the way down the hill.
We came out a road level right beside St Gimer Church and Jannie with the map said "No we don't go that way - to the right we go this way"
And so we went a gauche and along Rue de la Barbacane, along Route de Saint- Hilare up Chemin des Anglais, onto Chemin des Ourlets. She was a bit panicky and we stopped a car or maybe I should say a car stopped for us. They were German and had come from Narbonne and didn't know where we were, then alongside us a local pulled up and showed us that we were in totally the wrong direction.
Back we went and finally we got to the junction of Rue de la Barbacane - if only we had turned right??
Back to the apartment and on the way we picked up Jannies new shoes and then up the 62 steps and flopped down onto the couch.
Same dinner as last night as neither of us felt like eating much.
