Alright so I just added a blog yesterday, but so much has happened between then and now that I thought I should add another one.
Last night (Friday night) figured I was just going to be in for the night since no one made plans when, lo and behold, Kristin shows up and asks if I want to go out to a club. Not having anything else to do, and curious about it, I said yes - of course dragging Alan into it as well as asking Kristin to ask Michael *who lives closer to her flat*. Since none of us knew where to go, we decided to ask Sarah (right across the hall from my room) and she was going out with her boyfriend (Main from Scotland) and invited us to tag along. So after we got everyone together and after some minor wardrobe malfunctions got cleared up, we headed out on the bus, then the train into Perth proper. Once we got off the train, we walked into Northbridge, pretty much just trailing along behind Sarah and Main. Got to a place called "Black Betty's", music was INCREDIBLY LOUD but decent. And yes to all you amazed people who cannot picture me in that situation, I did order and drink a strawberry daiquiri - it was alright. Around 2am Sarah started getting ill (drank a bit too much) so we all headed back on the train. Unfortunately we missed the last bus so had to walk from the train station back to Murdoch. It was an interesting night - better than sitting around my room!
After such an eventful night, we decided to not head out to the beach today (Saturday) until 11am. All 5 of us (everyone save Main) were going to head to the beach today but when 11 rolled around, Alan said he was too tired to go and I didn't even try to wake Sarah. So Michael, Kristin, and I headed out. Again we took a bus first to Fremantle (or Freo as they call it here) and then switched to a train to Cottesloe. Once we got to the Cottesloe station we took the free shuttle to the beach (the Cott Cat) and just hung out there. The water here is extremely salty (saltier than you would expect). The waves were huge and the seagulls were fearless. Kristin spent most of the time in the water, wishing she had a boogie board (or however you spell it). Michael and I were in and out of the water, and then just laying on the sand. The sand is sooo soft there, its fantastic to just dig your feet into it. During one conversation I learned that Michael's birthday was yesterday (Friday)!! After we'd all had enough, we walked up to the il Gelato ice cream shop up on the boardwalk and had some ice cream as we waited for the shuttle back to the station. We stopped in Freo this time at the Market so Kristin could restock her groceries, and then headed back here.
We're planning to have a dinner together perhaps on Monday, I already invited Alan as well. Kristin and I are going to try to surprise Michael with a belated cake.
Well right now I'm salty, sandy, sunburned (only a bit!) and tired, so I'm jumping into a quick shower then nap time!
