So it's officially the end of O-week, or Orientation Week as it's called here. And in about 45 minutes I'll officially have been here for a full week. Parts of it are becoming natural and starting to feel more "homey" (just like moving into a new dorm - though I still need some posters up on my freakishly blank white walls!). Today (Friday the 15th of Feb.) there was a ton of meetings about boring things such as Security on campus, Health Services, etc - a lot of repetitive information (and yes I did pay attention Mom - no worries). I've met a few more people, all really cool.
Yesterday I went to a meeting about the Northwest Excursion trip - got my name on the list but they aren't taking names for which trip until 2 weeks from now. It sounds amazing! I'll probably post the itinerary for the trip I'll be going on later when I'm in - everytime I think about it I get excited! Here's a little teaser - there are wild dolphins involved!! How cool is that?
Just now I returned from the Guild Festival going on in Bush Court with Kristin and Michael. Basically it was like an activities fair with all the clubs and such on campus. I looked into a Tourism Students club - like a social club but they sponsor beach parties and some other things, a Conservation Biology club (hey I'm taking the class here so I figured that made sense!), as well as a Marine Science club, and a Diverse Sexualities group (like Q & A at Gustavus).
After the festival I came back to the flat and microwaved one of my hamburgers - still have a few left but I'm impressed that they're actually edible.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something but hey - I promised to keep a blog here and I think I'm doing pretty well so far!
Cheers mate! (no I dont speak true Aussie yet but I'll get there!)
