This morning we went to Dalyellup to visit a friend of Irene's. Pat is from Scotland but has lived in Western Australia for many years. We chatted easily for a couple of hours then left for Bunbury where we met Mick's niece for lunch in the Rose Hotel. Last time we went along the jetty we took the train. As it was cloudy and cooler today we decided to walk to the end and back. It is one mile long but the original jetty was longer. The jetty was originally built to take the boats for the timber trade. Mick remembers the timber yard and the jetty. A fire and a cyclone destroyed most of the jetty and a new one was built. The Interpretative Centre at the start of the jetty was built in the style of old beach huts...

We went to Busselton this morning to the shops. Busselton is like a country town and has a selection of small shops rather than large stores. Just like the old days! Just like England there are s lot of charity shops called Op shops but they appear to be better organised with better quality goods than back home. Sam has been much calmer since her walk and has slept a lot. We must have really tired her out. Mick went out with Vylic today and I stayed and sat in the garden reading for part of the day. It is the first time I have sat in the sun as it was cooler and rather windy but still lovely and sunny. We went for another walk along the beach late afternoon with the dog. This morning we woke and found the dog curled up asleep between us on the bed! Cute as she is we will not be getting a dog when we get back - chickens are enough to look after!!
