You may have heard that there have been some bad bush fires South of Perth which cover a very large area! When we went to the funeral yesterday Perth was very hazy as a result of drifting smoke from the fires. We could even smell the smoke for a couple of days particularly at night time! I think the fires are contained now.

Saturday's in the Merendino household is cricket day. Josh played in the morning and Adam in the afternoon. So we lazed around, walked to the shops and swam in the pool. Tonight we took Josh with us to Hilary's which is a development North of Perth city. It is a complex on the waterfront consisting of shops, eating places, a little funfair and a man made beach. It is always busy and bustling particularly on a Saturday evening. We had fish and chips and then meandered to the funfair. Josh had a go on the Super Nova and then somehow I was persuaded to go on the Sizzler with him. I haven't been on a ride for years and wasn't sure whether it was a good idea after fish and chips. But I survived although my body seemed to have been jolted every which way!!

Tomorrow we are off to Busselton provided there are no fires along the way.
