Test Run
The day Geoff had been looking forward to - to show Sarah where he lived for part of his life here in the 60's. We caught the train from Charing Cross to Chelsfield in Kent & walked the way he used to go home from school down Oxenden Wood Rd to Worlds End Lane. The house called Squirell's Court is still there & though added to, is still largely unchanged. Having Sarah with is made us brave enough to knock on the door & the current owner very generously showed us around inside & let us explore the backyard down to the woods where bluebells grow wild in the spring. It was a very special experience to be allowed inside & Geoff was thrilled to see so much the way he remembered it. We also walked down the lane next to the house then back past lovely houses to have a snack in Chelsfield village. Off to find the Florence Nightingale Museum near St Thomas' Hospital & spent a while learning about her life - thanks Flo - you made nursing a serious profession & introduced so many common sense good health measures, like hand washing! To cap off a great day I went to the Royal Opera House to see Tosca while G&S went to see Matilda the musical. We all enjoyed ourselves & I particularly thought of Eve & Mum who would have so loved to be with me at the opera in Covent Garden - a dream come true!
