Toured backstage of the Royal Opera House with the "delightful" Simon who showed us the sights & explained the workings of this huge building. Sat in the theatre seats, watched a morning ballet class with the principal dancers & saw some of the lighting & set arrangements. Sets arrive already to assemble in containers on lorries from storage in Sth Wales - such amazing logistics. So inspired to see an opera after this tour that I booked a ticket for Tosca next week! Had an extraordinary meeting at lunch when we shared a pizza at Jamie's Union Jack restaurant in the old market. Sat next to a couple from Victoria, Canada who noticed our accents & had a chat only to discover that they had just arrived in London after their stay in Chipping Campden - in the same cottage that we will go to next week. Unbelievable! Went to an exhibition of James Bond's cars etc - many of the actual vehicles that were used in the movies including a few of the iconic Aston Martins & Rolls Royces. Another musical show Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Savoy Theatre was lots of fun & surreal to be told after the show to "just take this exit & you'll be on The Strand" - I'm still pinching myself that we're here in this town!
