Test Run
Spent half a day exploring the many rooms of the National Portrait Gallery & examining the portraits from Admiral Nelson to Nelson Mandela. Some huge canvases of the parliament in the early 1800's, many kings & queens, military heroes & so many others. As advised we had a lovely lunch in the restaurant looking out over the roof of the gallery to Nelson atop his column! Searched many shops for more warm clothes as we've found the weather very cold then went to see Jersey Boys musical. Sat right up in the very top looking down on the stage & thoroughly enjoyed the fast paced, well told story & of course the great songs. Walked back through the crowds from Piccadilly where so many people were on the street & drinking pints standing outside pubs! Thursday we spent a lovely afternoon in Hayes visiting one of Geoff's school friends from Ramsden School for Boys in the 60's. Peter & his wife Wendy generously entertained us with afternoon tea & lots of reminiscing. This was such a treat for Geoff & he's rarely been so excited as when he arranged this meeting. It was a real highlight for us all I think.
