Test Run
Had the most perfect sunny day for our lovely Sarah's birthday. Torz stayed over & we all competed in the London Bupa 10km which was a portion of the Olympic marathon course. Started on the Mall and went past many iconic places like St Paul's, through Leadenhall Markets & back to finish in front of Buckingham Palace. We had a great time with lots of bands, drummers & cheering encouragement from the many charities who we're being helped by the fundraising. So lucky to be able to walk these ancient streets with no traffic. Big Ben chimed midday just as we passed! Geoff did a great time of 51.43 while the rest of us walked in 90mins or so - very pleased with the pace. Took the ferry down the Thames to Greenwich for traditional English pie & mash at Goddards then walked up the hill to the Royal Observatory to see the Greenwich Meridian where time begins. Saw the Cutty Sark but all areas closed as it was late. This daylight till 9pm is so deceptive. Tried to go up to the coctail bar in The Shard but we had on the wrong footwear - runners not acceptable so we just went home for prosecco & salad - all fairly exhausted after our day's exercise.
