Test Run
Walked to Australia House where Geoff's dad was posted during the sixties & looked inside the lovely St Clement Danes church across the road. This pretty little church is the Royal Air Force church & has many memorials to those who died & squadron unit badges set into the floor. I thought of Mum & Bessie who served in the Australian Air Force. Next stop was the magnificent Westminster Abbey where we walked the prescribed route listening to an audio guide by Jeremy Irons. Photos are not allowed but I managed to surreptitiously take a few of the ceiling with my phone - it's too beautiful not to record some of the ornate gothic stonework. Sat in Poet's Corner under Shakespeare & admired the memorials to so many famous poets, authors & musicians - what a good idea to honor these people as well as the kings, queens & prime ministers. Dinner at Dock Kitchen in Portobello Docks that we learned about after watching Spice Trip on tv at home. Had the chef's choice 3 course meal which was "British Summer" theme even though it's hardly summery here yet! Rode home on the top front of a double decker bus & amazed at how they negotiate these tiny narrow streets.
