Crew Frivolous
We woke this morning filled with excitement as we were finally going to the Horizontal Falls. We had tried to book this trip when Ang and Jenny were in town but unfortunately they were all booked out then.
We were picked up at 11:30am and made our way to the airport. Our pilot ran through the safety stuff and then we boarded the 14 seat turbo prop jet seaplane. Joe and Jen were given the seats on the back row. Heaps of leg room. What a great start.
Cleared for take of and up we went. We were in the air for about an hour and a half flying low over Cable Beach, Willie Creek Pearl Farm, Beagle Bay, Lombadina, Cape Leveque and Buccaneer Archipelago. So many photos were taken along the way.
The flight was fairly smooth with only a bit of turbulence here and there. We flew over the horizontal falls a couple of times and landed (tail end first) on the peaceful Talbot Bay.
We all climbed aboard the floating pontoons and made our way onto a huge houseboat. Joe, Col and Wendy all jumped into the shark cages to watch the feeding of the Tawny Nurse Sharks. I took one for the team, stayed on the pontoon and took the photo's ha ha
Back upstairs for BBQ Barramundi and salad (Chicken for Jen).
Boarded the 900hp fast boat and Joe, Wendy and I got the 3 of the 4 front row seats.
It was lovely cruising around the beautiful untouched bays and Cyclone Creek but we wanted to get to the falls.
Our skipper took us backward and forward through both falls quite a few times. One opening was 24 metres wide and the other faster flowing one was only 7.5 metres wide. The best way to describe it was EXHILARATING!!
Boarded our seaplane and flew for an hour directly back to Broome and landed about 5:40pm.
Such a fantastic day, certainly an unforgettable experience.
