Angie's Trip to England
Yesterday was our official last day in England. When we got back from Rome I showered and tried to get packing done because I was meeting Dan in London for the night. Before meeting Dan, I went into town with the girls for a bit. They all ordered dinner but I was going to eat with Dan so I didnt...it was awful watching them eat when I was so hungry. Soon though I walked to the train station and got a train to London. We met at the Paddington station and took the tube (underground) to the Thames river where Westminster Abbey, the House of Parliament, Big Ben, and the London Eye are. Everything was all lit up and it was absolutely beautiful. The two of us walked around for a bit before we decided to eat at a restaurant called Strada. We ordered two pizzas and shared...both were excellent. At dinner, Dan's friend who is supposed to pick him up from the station once I get my train text messaged him to say his car died and Dan would have to take the tube home. After dinner we walked around some more. We walked past the Parliament building and Westminster and across the river a couple times. We then realized the time and had to go because the tube would be closing soon. We made it back to Paddington but Dan wasnt able to get the tube to his house...we didnt have much of a choice so we got him a train ticket to come back to the hall at Reading with me. We waited an hour until the train came and just talked the whole time. Then we got on the train which was about an hour (there were some very interesting drunks on the train so I was pretty glad Dan had to go with me). We didnt end up getting to Bridges until 2:30 in the morning! So we just stayed up talking and I packed some more. Around 4:30 I showered and got ready to leave. The taxis picked us up at 6 and we all went to the train station to catch our 6:34 train ride to Gatwick airport. Dan was a sweetheart and helped me with all my baggage and such. We then said goodbye which was really hard. At the airport the four of us (Amy, Yvette, Elise, and I) had breakfast and then departed ways to catch our flights. Amy and I's plane ended up being delayed for about an hour and 15 minutes which was ok because we had a six hour layover in Dallas. The total flight time was an over 10 hours! I slept for most of it and when I wasnt sleeping I was crying or watching a movie. It was really hard to leave...to leave Dan and a country that I really liked. At Dallas you could instantly tell we were back in the US...and it was kind of weird. Our layover went pretty fast and Amy and I both slept the entire flight from Dallas to Cincinnati. Probably because it was the middle of the night in England which is what we were used to. It was good to see mom and dad though! I know its going to be an adjustment period and will take time for me to get used to things again but its really hard right now. Thank god for my family and friends. Love you all very much. This has been the best experience of my life and I am so fortunate I was able to have it!
