Angie's Trip to England
So Amy and I had a seemingly nice trip to Paris. We left Saturday, took the train from Reading to London (which was very interesting since there was a huge rugby game so all the fans were on the train and it was packed...we had to stand for 45 minutes to an hour with our bag and listen to weird loud fans with bad teeth go on and on). Then we took the eurostar train to Paris which is the one that goes under the English Channel. It was actually a very nice ride and you couldnt tell you went under ground at all. When we got to Paris we checked into our hotel and using the little French Amy and I remember from high school we went to dinner. After dinner, we went to bed...at 9 haha.
Sunday we had every intention of getting up early but that didnt work out so well. We didnt end up getting to the Eiffel Tower until 11:30...oops! We waited in line and went to the top. It was freezing though so we didnt want to stay outside very long. Couples were everywhere making out which was kind of depressing. We then decided it was too cold to walk around to the sights (our legs were numb) so we got onto one of those lame sight seeing buses. It was actually really nice because it took you to all the most fameous places and you could get off, see what you wanted to and catch another bus because they ran like every 10 or 15 minutes. So we got off at the Louvre and went inside...it was amazing! We saw the Mona Lisa and Venus De Milo and left though. It was too crowded. After that we only got off the bus one other time...at the Notre Dame but the line was too long to go in so we just shopped a bit and got back on the bus. We finally got off near a bunch of restaurants and got dinner. Good chicken, potatoes, bread and the best part was creme brulee! After dinner we got a taxi back to the hotel. We then took showers, read in bed, and went to sleep around 10.
On Monday we got up around the same time with once again every intention of getting up early. We got some chocolate croissants and headed to the department store district. Amy and I looked in every store we came to for dresses for the Ball and found nothing. We were getting very discouraged and beginning to worry about having nothing to wear but then we found some!! Cheap ones too! Yay for us. Next we went to Champs Elysees. We ate lunch in a cafe which was good and then attempted to go shopping but both of us were so tired we decided to go back to the hotel...and take naps lol. So we did and then woke up, went to dinner, had great creme brulee again, and came back to the hotel to pack and get ready to leave. It was a shockingly late night (inbed at 11 haha) for us. And at this point Amy and I decided we were like an old married couple who reads in bed and goes to sleep early! Haha
Tuesday we got up, packed, checked out, caught a taxi and went to the train station. While waiting to leave we got some more chocolate croissants and some amazing Hagaan Daz ice cream...yum! We read our books and slept the whole ride home...we sound very boring I know.
All together it was a good trip. We didnt plan anything and just went with it which was fine. Both of us decided though we much preferred England and no not just because of the language barrier. Paris was great and you could see how it would be romantic if you were there with a significant other but it was too cold and I was still sick so that put a damper on things. We were very excited to get back to Reading and couldnt wait to sleep in our very uncomfortable small beds!
