Angie's Trip to England
I guess its been a couple days!! Lets see what I can remember! Tuesday we had our first class...it was awful so we dropped it lol. But now we just about have our permanent schedule so thats exciting. Tuesday night we were going to go to the pub on campus but they close the doors at 11 even though they stay open until 1! So we ended up going to bed which was fine because at that point we were still recovering from Jet lag. Wednesday we had another class on Insects...next week in the class we have to eat a bug! Pray for me that day! Classes are similar but they rarely have tests or any other papers during the term just an essay sometimes due at the end and a final exam during the next term at some point. Everyone talks like crazy at any given instant during class, the teacher got pretty frustrated. After class I took a nap and then got ready for our first big night out. Amy, Renee (another American on our floor) went down to the bar, got a beer, then came up and I watched them all take vodka shots in the hallway (Yuck). Its funny because the English girls say they want our accent and we say we want theirs...so they tried to speak American and we tried to speak English...hilarious. Then we walked to campus to go to the club. It was pretty crazy! The cool look for guys is shaggy hair, spiked hair, a mohawk, or shaved top but hair on the sides...weird. One of the clubs was bigger and better than ours in downtown dayton...how sad is that! They played a ton of American songs like Sweet Home Alabama, some rap, etc...and everyone sings the words. All the guys dance but not like our guys...they dance crazy and its hilarious. They would prefer a girl dance crazy as well. In the "toilet" (bathroom) they have a tampon dispensor and it has four categories with products: Fun - Condums (lol), Necessary - Tampons, Freshner - Breath freshner, and I forget the last one. They are very open about their sexuality and it is more exceptable for people to sleep around at a younger age. Amy and I lost the girls so we hung out with Luca and his cousin Sam all night. That was fun because they are very nice and Luca is interesting with his Italian language. Then the boys got us a taxi home (aww how nice of them) and Amy and I went to bed!
Today, we slept in, thank god! Went to class but figured it was too hard to take so we left and are going to pick a different one haha. So we came back to the hall and have been cleaning up and such since. Dinner tonight was disgusting by the way! We met a couple more girls though. One from San Fran who is transferring to Reading...she is very sweet, has a boyfriend here, and is taking us out with her Sat and next week. And the other girl is from Chicago. She is also nice. They claim they lost weight during the first term! How exciting. Tonight I'm just staying in and probably watching a movie with Amy or something...and tomorrow I think we are going to go to the town center.
All in all, things are going very well. I miss you all back home but I am so glad I can keep in touch with you through the internet. I'm actually adjusting to the shower and small room situation. Its not so bad anymore. I will try to take more pictures so you can live vicariously through me haha! Love you all...keep in touch!
