Oh yeah!! Its may day off, and its not raining! FINALLY!- I therefore decided to have an Aussie day.
Me and a housemate Jeffery, decided to head to Brighton Beach just outside the city. I loved the fact the beach was called brighton it felt like home!.
It was so lovely, and you didn't feel like you were in Melbourne City at all, for anyone who is in Australia and heading to Melbourne I recommend going here over St Kilda beach any day. There were loads of windsurfers, kite sailors, and yachts out on the water, and no noisy speed boats or any commercial stuff at all. The cutest part though was that they had beach houses…. I am talking the 1920 style beach houses where old women used to go and eat there sandwiches every summer in the U.K! It was awesome I would love to have one.
As Joy was away, and the babysitter she had been sending over to spy on us wasn't going to be around today that I would have a BBQ. This is very brave and defiantly a breach of the house rules but I actually don't care any more. So my house mates and I fired up the BBQ and had an aussie evening. A friend of mine Vicky who did oz intro ( who I didn't know was still in Melbourne) came over too which was nice. However we were slightly worried because our physco Turkish friend just sat on the balcony all evening lighting fires in cans, we thought he may be feeling left out and making a cry for attention so gave him 4 burgers and 4 pieces of eggy bread as a welcome to the party gift. However he just continued to sit on the balcony and light fires until at least 1am before coming into the house and eating all the fruit that was left ( I am talking 8 apples here). This is more than the munchies which supports the second theory that he is not physco but in fact on drugs…..you have to laugh or you cry!
I have had sad news of late though. A lot of my oz intro crew are already planning to return home. Some are homesick, others just finding that life in Oz isn't as great as they hoped, others cant find work. I have no such plans though… sorry Mum!I think it is because I have been to Australia before, therefore had realistic expectations of what to expect, and also because I new I had to settle and work Iknew it would all be sun, surf and koala's. But its sad that they are going home, especially because it will mean I wont have so many people to meet up with on the coast!
