Hmm so not a lot has really happened of late. I have just been settling into life in Melbourne really. I still think that given the choice between Sydney and Melbourne I would pick Sydney but Melbourne does definitely have some really cool areas.
So at the moment I am working in a Greek Deli in the next suburb over, its blooming hard work but its so nice to have money coming in. It was really good this week because I got to go to a different branch of the deli which was in the Southern Hemispheres biggest shopping centre- it was huge, almost too big actually. Its still hard to adjust as I have gone from doing something exciting everyday - to just working most days, especially when I had to redo the 100 or so dips which I put in the wrong containers on Tuesday. But I have to keep reminding myself that I came out here to do work and travel.
I have decided thought that on my days off I need to do more to see Melbourne otherwise it's a waste of time. So this week I was very cultural and went to the National Gallery of Victoria and did the free tour. On my tour were just two other old ladies who really new their art, I felt really uncultured but still enjoyed it all the same. Its weired because I am not into art at all but when someone explains to you about the paintings its much more interesting. It was actually really good and I think I will go back if I get a chance because I only saw about half the exhibitions. In the afternoon I went to the famous Chapel Street, which is supposed to be the hip and happening place to be- I was really disappointed though because it was just really main stream shops and things like Tgi Fridays- none of the funky little cafes that Brunswick has. Never mind that's the thing about Melbourne I guess there is an area for everyone.I have still yet to find anywhere good to go out yet. For me its weird because I actually want to go out partying for a change- I think its because I am less busy than at home, so imagine my disappointment when my house mate and I went for a drink yesterday and found we like the only people there….. BOO HOO! So we just came home and ate Cadburys chocolate- this really cool version called black forest which has like bits of Turkish delight and biscuit running through.
So yea that's about all I have to report from here. Obviously you have all heard about the really bad fires here- its ALL we here about and there is a big emergency relief campaign going on at the moment. I hope everone is well at home!
