Tuesday was back to the pumpkins. This was one of the hardest days ive done so far. Not physically but mentally. Mario the boss was on the war path, and unlike other days he was there untill half2 ish constantly telling us we were doing wrong then contradicting himself saying something else. There were some choice words i wanted to say but alass i didnt. I just got on with it. I was sooo bored and the day dragged. Needless to say i was happy when we finished at 4 and i was soon back having tea and falling asleep to harry potter!
Wednesday was pumpkins again. Abit better but still very boring. Mario was in a better mood so wasnt around as much and so was more laid back. There was some good banter between us. There was a guy working there making boxes and occasionally driving the fork lift. He wasnt a full shilling to be kind. Or as the german guy calls him, alot, 'dumb as f**k guy'. Harsh but funny and to be fair, true. Nick wasnt impressed when the guy tried to move some pallets with the fork lift and then dropped them everywhere. haha i laughed alot at that. Anyway, we finished at 5 and i felt great for 2 reasons. 1) i was with the plumber the next day and 2) we got paid!! I received my first ever $100 note. It was cool...simple minds eh!
Thursday i was picked up at 730 and we went off to a police house to change a water tank in the back. It was in a very small and dieing village and the police staion was just a wood hut next to the house, i thort it was his shed! (pics to follow) That was a couple of hours then we headed back to deans where he had some work for me to do. There i met his wife karen, and two kids hamish (3) and sean (19months) all in all a very nice family. Again i was digging trenches as we need to lay some cables for the new vidoe and voice system outside the electric gates!! He has a very very nice house which is massive (again, pics to follow) The trench this time was about 2ft deep and about 1.5ft x 1.5 ft then a channel off the the mains. Not massive but very hard work. I was mainly using the 'crow bar' which is a heavy metal bar about 7ft long that you jab in the ground to break it up. I had hamish with me for most of it. He was just playing but he kept putting the dirt back in the hole and flattening the stuff id dug. Nothing major but very annoying when im trying to work. dean found it very funny. After about an hour we had lunch. Some left over meat cooked on the bbq with slad and olives. Was very good indeed. I got back to it and dean popped off to get cement. When he was back he had a laugh at at how hard i was working then we finished off the pipes and back filled it up. Karen brought some popcorn out (they called it afternoon tea??!) which i enjoyed more than the kids! Dean then popped off to do a job and i pottered around filling sunken trenches and collecting old branches for the fire outside he lights evrynow and then. Whilst i was stacking it it re-lit itself which i put i, i thoirt and apparently burnt thru the night! ooops. During the day they had asked if i wanted to stay for dinner and ofcourse i accepted.. At half5ish karen came looking for me telling me to finish as it was getting dark so i went in. I was then told there was a towel and spare clothes in the bathroom if a wanted a proper shower (the one were im staying the head has broken off so its just a pipe which u have to put ur thumb over to spray!) so i again accepted. It was awesome! i proper shower for a change. When i got out karen offerend to was the clothes id just taken off which was good and even better said if i took any other washing the next day she would do that. handy as i was down 2 my last pair of undies! Dean was back when i finished and then he grabbed one whilst i chatted with karen. They had ordered italian for tea, yum! One large pizza and then spag bol, rissotto and another prawn pasta dish. I was in heaven. We ate and i finshed it with a chilled beer before we sat and watched tv for abit. Karen gave me some powder to soak my tshirt in as it was filthy and then dean then brought me back around 8 were i unpacked and wenrt to bed. My hands are now covered in blisters that have popped and skin that had ripped off, they are so so sore!
Today, friday, dean said he would pick me up at 8. 830 he turned up and i was freeeeezing waiting for him! Anyway, we went to his and i started trimming some hedges for him before we set off to work. We had hired a mini digger for the day which meant i didnt have to dig so much! We rocked up at a work station about an hour later were dean dug up a path and we set down some pipes. He cracked two different pipes along the way so got pretty pissed off with himself! I back filled them all and watched what he was doing mainly. He then popped into town to get a fitting and our lunch and told me to level out the ground and then play on the digger if i wanted! SO i did and it was AWESOME! i had alot of fun on it. As did dean when he was on it as he hadnt been on one for 10yrs! Apparently u have to have a liceince to drive one but as were so far out of the way he said it was cool. He then came back with the biggest burger i have ever seen! It had a 8-10ounch burger, bacon egg cheese salad and fresh pineapple. beautiful! Then we finshed up that job (we have to go back next week to properly finish it) and then went to another, at another police station) This time dean said it would be more hastle than worth to get the digger off so i had to dig yet another trench. This one was particulary hard as it was all sandy and clay like so was like digging thru rock! We fitted the water pipes, set up for next week and then came back and returned the digger. I then called in at deans to grab my clothes which were all hanging outside drying off! what a nice woman. Now im back and waiting for the shower before yet more harry potter...
