We had breakfast and then took a ferry to the airport. Two of the other guests at the hostel had booked a ferry so we just got in the ferry with them. The girl was African and the guy was American - they are going to the registry office on Monday to get married as they both don't want their parents to know of their marriage! Sounds controversial! The flight took about 2 hours with a quick stop over in Malindi on the way to Nairobi. Another long Nairobi Uber trip from the airport to the hotel (Kenya Comfort Inn, booked by intrepid for our pre-safari accommodation) because of the traffic...didn't miss the traffic when we were in Lamu! Felt very African in our hotel room - our bedroom window overlooked a slum! We were starving so had a bite to eat at the hotel restaurant while face timing Kate's parents. Later on Kate went in the lift and there was a power outage and the lift went all black - and there was no emergency button! Luckily the power was only out for about 20 seconds but it was a pretty scary 20 seconds for Kate! Later on we had a meeting with the safari group. We actually turned up to the wrong meeting for a different intrepid trip initially - there were heaps of Aussies on that one! There's 8 of us on the trip (there's meant to be 10 but 2 didn't show up tonight so I guess they might show up tomorrow). We then all had dinner at the hotel. There are 3 Americans, 1 Brit, 2 Kiwis and us. We head off early for safari tomorrow. We probably won't have internet access for a week so you may all get a break from our blogs!
