India and Nepal 2022
It's my last day in the office at Akhaya Women today and so I am able to leave a little early to see tonight's football international between Myanmar and Cambodia.
The venue is the Thuwanna stadium which holds over 30,000 spectators and the fixture is a qualifying round of the Suzuki Cup for Asian countries.
After a lengthy taxi journey across the city, the night time atmosphere is just like a football match back home. Hot food sellers, scarves, t shirts and face paints but a chaotic way of buying tickets through a fence.
i choose the top price ticket (5,000 kyats about £3.75) and make my way through the turnstiles where I am met by two police officers. The male officer removes the screw top from my two bottles of water whilst the female officer hold open a plastic bag. I am even given a straw!
Inside the atmosphere is fantastic. There is a big noisy crowd who are fanatical in their support for the home team. Many wear the national team shirts and I wrap my Myanmar flag around my neck to lend my support.
After going a goal behind, Myanmar strike back with two goals before half time and a further one just after the break making it Myanmar 3 Cambodia 1.
I am thanked for being an honorary Myanmar supporter and everyone makes their way out into the busy night time traffic to to celebrate on the way home.
