India and Nepal 2022
I was at work this morning at 7.40 to help Htar Htar (she's the Director) and other colleagues with their strategic planning for work with political parties.
I move to my little apartment in the north of the city tomorrow and so I have a lot to do, work and accommodation wise.
But one thing I have wanted to do is to watch a football game and today is the last opportunity before the season ends. I get a taxi to the stadium in town to see the Yangon United versus Hantharwady United fixture.
I buy a club scarf in the small club shop and make my way to the stand where I hook up with a group of teachers from the US who are teaching at the international school. They make me feel welcome and I enjoy the conversations about their lifestyles and my travels.
One of the group has walked the Portuguese Camino and so I hope we might set up a Camino in Yangon group! I even met a young English teacher who comes from Stourbridge and I was shocked when I recalled it was 50 years ago that I was at school there!
The he game itself was really good and produced a 2-1 win for the home side with goals in each of the two halves. A home player was shown a red card in the 75th minute for a bad tackle which got the crowd going but Yangon held on to win the final game of the season.
