India and Nepal 2022
An 'adventure' is defined in the dictionary as an 'exciting or very unusual experience' and this morning I had the latter.
I wanted to see an hotel in the city, which I may use as a treat at Christmas time and gave the name to the taxi driver. He stopped five times, including a disappearance from his vehicle for a few minutes to search out local knowledge.
Addtionally, as he was conversing with a fellow driver in a traffic queue, he ran into the car in front! I tried to warn him of what was about to happen, but too late! The other driver was not too impressed, even though it was a minor bump.
A converation took place for a few minutes plus inspection of bumpers in the outside lane, as other vehicles swerved around us. Eventually, a sum of 5,000 kyats (£3.75) was agreed as compensation and we were on our way!
There are two new VSO volunteers in town - Carol, a midwife and public health nurse from Scotland and Phil, a GP from Yorkshire. I also met Alice, the very impressive country Director at the VSO office in Yangon.
Fingers crossed that I have also finalised my accommodation arrangements and should be moving in on August 21st and the lease will run until 9th March 2017.

Marilyn Willwohl We enjoyed a pleasant walk round the lake on a lovely sunny day, worth doing when the weather improves.
