Day 34. Up early to the Kunnunurra Markets in the town park. Bought a big paw paw for later while Raechel bought some unusual zebra rocks. A big day trip of 300km today to visit El Questro Station and Resort for morning tea and later Wyndham. On the way we detoured down a dusty track into Zebedee Springs for a wonderful soak in the 33 degree natural hot springs flowing into small plunge pools amongst the grove of Livistona palms. Very relaxing before most other travellers arrived. Crossed the gently flowing but wide Pentecost River in our Prado, then into El Questro Station. Very touristy with a swish cafe and restaurant, luxury accommodation, helicopter flights, gorge tours and horse rides. Met up with our friends from Canberra, Ross and Robyn, who we last met in Jabiru. Onto Wyndham with beautiful vistas of the Cockburn Ranges, so many strange large boab trees dominating the dry water courses and gentle white brahmas cattle by the waterholes. In Wyndham we drove around the port area and dropped into the old Museum showing earlier life when the town was a vibrant port. Over 1.6 million cattle were processed through the now demolished abattoirs up to 1985. We met our friends again for lunch at the Rusty Shed Cafe. Pixie is still sitting in her eclectic little store up the road! Back to Kunnunurra before dusk for a delicious home cooked chicken casserole. 26 degrees today, fine and sunny as usual.
