Day 89. Awoke to a fine, sunny day of 24 degrees so we packed a picnic lunch and headed off to Cape Le Grand National Park. We were amazed at the beauty of the Cape, the wildflowers, brilliant white sandy beaches and rocky outcrops and peaks. Thistle Bay a real gem followed by Lucky Bay where we walked along the beach, then very long Rossiter Bay and finally Hellfire Bay where we had lunch and spent time walking on the pristine white beach and climbing the rocks for a view of Little Hellfire. Whales lazing about offshore, the beach sand like fine white talcum powder and squeaky to walk on. This place is so beautiful we thought how lucky we are to live in Australia! The giant rocky dome of Frenchmans Peak has a massive archway sitting on top! Back to Esperance late afternoon for a walk along the new foreshore near the old tanker jetty with a distant view across to Cape Le Grand. Later Raechel was surprised to run into her sister-in-law Anne and Max from SA in the same caravan park just a few vans down from us! So after dinner of roast chicken and veges we invited them up to our van for drinks, a very pleasant end to our day. Drove 150km, a very special scenic day.
