Day 48. Ross and I were off to the beach one hour before high tide to go fishing. Today the huge tide came up at 11.00am, we estimate at least 8 metres! We staked our spot on the beach and gradually the beach filled in either direction with other fishermen and 4WD vehicles for as far as our eyes could see. So unusual! We watched east and west down the beach but nothing was being caught by all these fishermen except two small black tipped reef sharks next to us. Then Ross caught a small thread-fin salmon and I caught a small trevally. Raechel and Robyn joined us on the high tide but still our luck did not improve. A quick swim and back to the van for lunch. Ventured onto the beautiful beach again late afternoon for some shell collecting. We were amazed that the tide had gone out over 500 metres! Dinner for four hosted by Raechel - chicken randang curry with sweet potato and almond brown rice followed by ice cream. Warm 30 degrees today, the sea creates a dampness around the van park after dark, something to do with the full moon.
