I was actually quite glad to camp at Weipa because it was only going to be a day trip. It was a really nice place and a great caravan park where we had a beachfront site. We saw the sun set for the first time which was enjoyable and has a different intensity to a sunrise. There isn't much at see around town and I would have loved to hire a boat and go fishing but was surprised to see the lack of options to hire one. The caravan park had 2 but were booked out for the next 4 days.
We met another family from Brisbane keen to catch up and do the Frenchman's Track so we will do that if we have time. We spent the day with a short drive through town and swimming at the pool.
