We woke up to sunshine and everything outside was dry so very little rain had fallen after all! It was lovely to be able to start the generator and make coffee regardless of the time knowing that we weren't disturbing anyone around us as we were tucked into the corner all on our own and the river drowned out all noise. We had a huge breakfast and then spent the morning doing schoolwork. While Nick and I made lunch, the kids played down by the river and were in heaven. We decided to spend the afternoon in Tumbarumba, much to their disgust, as they didn't want to leave their game but we needed some provisions and to top up with water. As we were leaving a Queensland couple pulled into the camp and looked as if they were parking up along the river behind us. We called into Paddy's Falls on the way into town and it was very pretty; lots of water and a great looking walk along the river so we decided to come back another time and spend an afternoon there. In Tumbarumba we called into the Tourist Information Centre and asked if there was anywhere we could fill up with drinking water. At the end of the street there was a toilet dump point with a tap for drinking water and we were allowed to fill up with as much as we needed - what a great town. We drove down the main street and found a launderette and while the clothes were being washed we visited the bakery across the road and had coffee and cake. While the laundry was drying we went to the park and while the kids played Nick and I used the Internet as there is no signal for anything at Paddy's Flat. The town has free Wi-Fi, which was fantastic, as our dongle wasn't working! We topped up with groceries and then headed home and had been completely shafted by the Queenslanders who had moved into our corner besides us. All the space behind us, and further up the river, was still vacant but they had chosen to camp on our doorstep! The view from our van was now the side of their van. Our fire (which was laid and ready to go) blew straight into their windows and as we sat around it our chairs virtually rested against their van!! We were mightily pissed off!! Poor Tally kept running off to their van as they had a dog so it meant she had to spend the rest of the day tied up. The kids continued to play at the river but kept having to go past the end of their van and for once we didn't keep them quiet. We sat and had dinner around the campfire and still listened to music trying to ignore their presence but it wasn't easy and it changed the whole feel of our perfect camp. We went to bed feeling very disgruntled!!
