Poor Annie woke up at 6am feeling unwell and soon succumbed to diarrohea and vomiting, so we had a very gentle morning and took things slowly. She was feeling a little better by mid morning so Nick made a picnic and we drove to Coffs Harbour for a better look around. We stopped at Park Beach first and ate our lunch on the sand. Matty decided to strip off and have a swim and it did look inviting! Katharine and I walked along Macauleys Headland to Diggers Beach and saw our first whale for the day! We headed into town and found a huge shopping centre with a bookshop and stocked up on more schoolbooks for the kids - Annie has finished the pre primary curriculum and is moving on to Year 1!! As the sun was still shining and the day was still young, we drove back to the marina and got an ice cream before walking to the whale watching platform on Muttonbird Island again. At first it looked like we wouldn't see any whales but we sat there for a while and before we left we'd spotted five or six, two in particular were having a great time leaping out of the water. On the way home we drove through Sawtell and Urunga and then drove out to the lookout at Nambucca Heads, which looked beautiful as the sun was setting and the sky had a beautiful pink glow to it - plus we saw another whale! Back at the van the kids went off for a swim even though it was dark, Annie had a lie down and I made dinner. We spent the evening in front of the tv and packed up a bit as we head off tomorrow. Nambucca has been nice but Coffs Harbour would be well worth another visit.
