We had a fantastic day despite hearing that Mielikki is in hospital. This morning we went out on a glass bottom boat and saw many different species of coral and fish, we did some snorkeling from the boat and saw sea turtles too. The coral here is not very colorful but it is still beautiful and the fish are colorful. After lunch the boys went snorkeling off the shore for over 3 hours. The road to Carnarvan has more nothing than the nullabour!

This morning we drove to Monkey Mia, stopping on the way because there were Emus on the road. They were very inquisitive and came right up to the car. At Monkey Mia the boys were lucky to feed the dolphins. We saw a sea turtle off the jetty and the boys swam in the beautiful clear water. We drove 400km today, stopping for lunch at the Billabong roadhouse and Hamelen pool (photo). Hamelin pool is home to a large colony of stomatolites - living rocks made from cyanobacteria - they were the first life form on Earth 3.5 billion years ago. We are now staying at Denham CP and will visit Monkey Mia tomorrow.

We left Kalbarri this morning after little sleep thanks to a windy night and screaming twin babies in the camper next to us. I am so glad we waited until the kids were older to do this trip! A quick stop to look at the gorgeous Murchison River gorge further up, then onto Shark Bay.
