Today we drove nearly 700km, across the NT/Queensland border and into Mt. Isa. The Tablelands became less scenic as we headed south but still interesting with miles and miles of grass plains (photo). We packed up the camper trailer this morning and left it at the Heartbreak Hotel campground in Cape Crawford, where we had stayed last night. We then drove 120km of dirt road to see the Southern Lost City (photo) in the Limmen NP. It was well worth the drive. There are a few "lost city" sites around northern Australia but most are only accessible by helicopter. The 'city' pillars are made of Limestone and have been formed over millions of years. A day of traveling today. We stopped for lunch at the Historic Daly Waters Pub and had Barra burgers. The pub was interesting with memorabilia everywhere. I loved the car number plates, Jeff bought a locally made stock-whip from a local stall opposite the pub. The boys were impressed with the McDonalds flag and sign saying McDonalds was 286km away! A relaxing day today. After loosing a lure to a barramundi in the Roper river yesterday evening, the boys tried their luck at fishing again today. It ended when Kaidan declared "let's face it Dad - we're crap fishermen". This campsite was a good find, you can hire canoes and there are pontoons in the swimming area on the river. We left Katherine this morning and arrived at Mataranka in time to see the Barra feeding at Territory Manor. The man had trained the Barramundi to eat pilchards from his hand or from a rod.
