Kya Travels
This morning Saumya woke us up, and we had a chat with her for a while, while we were getting ready to head out. Today was monopoly pub crawl day, so I tied a shoelace in Darren's hair, making him the boot, and I wore a sewing measuring tape as a belt, making me the thimble. When we were ready, we said bye to Saumya and headed down to the station. We worked out how to top up just a bit of money on our Oyster cards, with the help of the girl working there, then jumped on a train to Liverpool st, then got a tube to Elephant and Castle. Out the front of the station we met Hinn, followed pretty soon by JL, (who I used to work with) then we waited around for about 20 minutes until Ash arrived, with her two friends, Jo and Emma. We went over to the bus stop and all jumped on a bus and got off at the intersection of Old Kent Road, the first stop! We got off and crossed a massive roundabout to the street, where I tried to get everyone to come to the sign so we could get a photo with it, but apparently I 'didn't know where I was going' so everyone walked the other way to the street with the pub, The George. So we went inside this pub, which fittingly, was a bit dingy and full of old local men watching sports. We got ourselves a half pint (and the girls got a pint, whinging that it had taken too long to get there) and had a chat together. After finishing our beer, (and resisting getting another while the girls finished) I had told everyone what I was trying to do with the sign, so we all went back to the streetsign for a photo, then went back again to the pub, and to the bus stop across the road. We waited for the bus then jumped on and went in to Liverpool Street Station. We walked past the next pub, the Hamilton Hall, and went down to the McDonald's, where we were supposed to be meeting Jess. But we couldn't find her so after a bit we went back, got our photo with the Liverpool Street Station sign and then went into the pub. Jess met us there, and after a bit, another of Ash's friends, Anita, met us as well. We ended up getting two rounds there while we waited for everyone to join us, and it was quite a nice pub, but when we were done, we followed Hinn and walked down the street to Fenchurch Street Station, went inside and went to The Fen. We all grabbed a beer very quickly as the pub was closing up (at 5pm?!) and drank and talked. The bar guy started flicking lights on and off and turned off the music very soon after he'd served us, which was very annoying, so we basically skulled those drinks and left again! Ash and her friends decided they were going to leave us at that stage (after only 3 pubs!) to go to another party, so we said goodbye to them before heading to the next place. I feel a little bad saying it was actually a bit easier and nicer without their slow drinking and whinging the whole way... So anyway, JL, Jess, Hinn, Darren and I headed down the street and went to Whitechapel Road, and to a pub called The Aldgate Exchange, which was quite a fancy looking place, and pretty busy too. We got a beer there, then had to convince JL to stay for a few more stops, as he had to work early the next morning. We convinced him though, then headed down to Whitehall and to the pub The Lord Moon of the Mall. We got a drink there, and almost got some delicious smelling Thai food, but ended up leaving instead and going down to Trafalgar Square, and to our regular, the Chandos! After a drink there we said goodbye to Jess, who was heading off to work, then convinced JL he had said one more (which he hadn't) and went to The Moon Under Water at Leicester Square, which turned out to be next door to the cinemas from the other night, for our next drink. We tried to convince JL for one more, but failed, so we said goodbye to him, then Hinn, Darren and I went out for some delicious Chinese food. The three of us headed to one last pub after that, The Comedy, at Coventry Street, where we got a beer, then used Hinn's phone (Darren's was dead) to sort out our plans for getting home, as Saumya and Graham were both out. Graham sorted that their other housemate, Tamu, would let us in, so when we finished our drinks, we headed to the tube, said bye to Hinn and got a tube to Liverpool, then waited a while for the next train to Clapton. I got a delicious pasty, and Darren got some Hungry Jacks then we got on the train home. We buzzed the flat, but got no answer. A guy in another flat stuck his head out the window and asked if we needed to be let in, so we buzzed his room and he opened the door for us. Luckily the flat was unlocked! We went in and went to the kitchen where we scared Tamu who was chilling out with headphones on! We said hi and had a quick chat while we made a cuppa, then we headed to bed.
