We have arrived in Japan!
We had a fairly uneventful flight over with just a few turbulence issues at take off. Thankfully international Jetstar is much better than domestic.
We arrived at Osaka at around 8pm and made a quick escape out of the airport and into the very brisk winter air. This may take some getting used to!
After validating our rail passes we hopped onto the train only to go a few stops and having to get off due to a problem with the train (or so we think, the conductor was speaking Japanese but everybody else groaned and then got off so we followed suit). Thankfully we didn't have to stand on the freezing station for long before the next train came along, thank you Japan rail system. But time was against us as we needed to check into the hostel by 10pm and it was already 9! The train eventually seemed to get into a rhythm and we made it to the hostel (Toya Hostel) with about 20mins to spare.
After layering up some more we headed out to grab a quick dinner which ended up being ramen and gyoza. Nom nom nom.
We are now back in the hostel, rugged up in blankets on our Japanese futon aka mat on the floor with some tiny bean filled pillows.
But we made it! Can't wait to get around and explore a bit more in the daytime.
