Today was Nyrzha's sisters 32nd Birthday and there was a lunch and a celebration at their patents house. At about 12pm I walked over (only 20 minutes down the road) to Nyrzha's parents house and helped them setup for the lunch. It was really nice that all the family turned up and the best thing I new them all well enough now to feel like one of the family. I have been eating very simply since falling sick 10 days ago and so today still being careful I was able to try a few different things. I tried Chilean mussels which were absolutely delicious and some various dipping sauces. For the meal there were two things on offer Fricase (slow cooked pork) mote, potato and the second plate on offer was Trucha stuffed with vegetables and salad. Local Boliviand and Chilean wines adorned the table and beaconed me but I held off knowing the last two times I drank even a drop of alcohol I ended up sick. Deciding Fish would be the safer option I went with that and my God was glad I did; the trout so moist with a crunchy skin and a delicious light sause, sautéed vegetables and a fresh garden salad. Everyone was happy and we spent the whole afternoon chatting, laughing and enjoying one another's company. For dessert out came a home made Mocha cake, chocolate mud cake and various other chocolates; also knowing this wouldn't be best for my stomach I also had to pass. Everyone stayed to late - very common here that people give all their time for celebrations etc and never rush off because they have more important things to do- the truth being the most important things are the family and friends. Once again even though my family is a thousand miles away its days like today I am reminded of them and feel they are here with me: in this wonderful family that has adopted me as one of their own. I thanked everyone, said my goodbyes and then walked back to Nyrzha's. I packed my bag ready for my bike tour tomorrow and had some good news that we wouldn't have to leave super early as the guide needed to pick some other people up from the airport before he would collect me.
