I woke up with a pretty soar belly today - probably from all that Pork I ate yesterday. One thing about trying new foods all the time is that you never know how your body will react so a good idea is to make sure not to try different foods before long bus rides or flights. I had asked Nyrzha if she would like to go to the tourist site Valley de Luna: an area where erosion has worn away the majority of the mountain. So mid morning we set off for our visit to the valley and were very lucky as the sun was out and the temperature cool enough for shorts. The site was very touristy but at the same time very beautiful and unique - unlike anything I had ever seen before. Nyrzha was a great guide and not only walked around taking photos of me, explaining the strange formations but allowed me to take my time and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Opposite the Valley of the Moon stood the worlds highest golfcourse, not much to look at to be honest but being at 3800m above sea level it holds the record. The surrounding mountains and valleys were quite a sight with different shades of reds, greys and browns as if straight out of a country and western film. In the distance stood the famous rock formation; The Devils Plug - also a tourist sight that can be hiked out to and climbed. Just as we were leaving we ran into Nyrzha's close friend who works with traditional art, she invited us around for dinner next weekend and offered to take us hiking - cant wait. On the way back to Nyrzha's we passed a few restaurants roasting chickens out the front and couldn't help but be enticed into a purchase. Amazingly the roast chicken here is very expensive and instead of being served with chips the chicken is served with roasted bananas. In the afternoon we watched a film and relaxed - exactly what I needed as my body is still aching from the Huayna Potosi climb on the weekend. The rest of the evening I chatted with my Italian friend Fra about our trip to the Amazon this weekend and we both agreed we would meet and book everything tomorrow.
