This morning Nyrzha invited me to join her and her family for her sisters Birthday Party at her brothers office. There was about 20 people there of whom most I already new and I got to meet Nyrzha's Aunty from Los Angeles. Her Aunty was a very interesting lady and told me how even though she was born in Bolivia when she comes back she needs to be very careful with what she eats as to avoid stomach troubles. The first thing they handed out was Saltenas (meat, egg, salsa stuffed pies) and not to be rude and thinking my stomach should be able to handle new foods now I went for it and was glad I did. The Saltenas were delicious but I drew the line there not tempted to try the rich birthday cake and risk stomach dramas. After the party I went for a walk around San Miguel and then headed back to Nyrzha's for lunch. After lunch I was feeling good so I caught a bus out to the zoo; I was told the zoo was not very good and definitely not worth visiting but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. For about 75 cents you get access to a huge zoo complete with many of the indigenous animals of Bolivia and South America. The park was huge and it took me hours to walk around, the perfect way to spend a hot afternoon. I saw llamas, jaguars, monkeys, tigers, condors, pumas, snakes and a handful of other wonderfully unique animals to this region. This was actually the first time I had been to a zoo and I really enjoyed it, I guess it's a little upsetting these animals being locked up in cages but amazing we get a sneak peak at their habitats and life's. I had to walk much of the way back which wasn't too bad as it was a beautiful day but by the time I arrived back at Nyrzha's I was stuffed. The rest of the evening I relaxed and watched a movie falling asleep really early from all the days walking.
