Today is rest day - a much deserved rest day after my huge summit of Huayna Potosi. Nyrzha had the day off aswell so we had a late breakfast and say around watching TV shows. For lunch we had organized to go to Nyrzha's Mothers house again - I know I am making a habit of this. We walked over to Nyrzha's mothers house as its only a 20 minute walk and luckily the sun was out and the heat was a welcome change to the freezing conditions on Huayna Potosi mountain. For lunch we had the most delicious pork soup called with a huge pork chop , mote (boule and puffed maiz) and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Nyrzha's uncle had also brought from Cochabamba (nearby city) there very famous and typical dish: Chicharon - deep fried pork in Chicha (Bolivian Maiz Beer); one of my absolute favorite dishes from Bolivia. Nyrzha's Mum insisted I eat the rest of what was left and not to disappoint I ofcourse agreed. I don't think I have ever eaten so much pork in one sitting but I now sit hear with the biggest grin ear to eat nursing a soar belly - life is good no-no life is great. After lunch I sat up on Nyrzha's parents 4th floor balcony admiring the amazing view of the mountains surrounding San Miguel thinking about all my wonderful experiences in this beautiful country. Later Nyrzha and I headed to the market and picked up a few bits and pieces which included a couple of new movies (you can get in cinema movies here on dvd for $1.50), some fruit and veg as I would be making my rendition of the famous Mexican Guacamole dish tonight. I had a few hours whilst Nyrzha went to the hospital so I also made a batch of the local drink Mocachinchi and tomorrow's breakfast - Spanish Tortilla. We were supposed to go to a local dance competition tonight but unfortunately Nyrzha finished to late so instead we stayed in made dinner and watched a very good film called Bridges of Maddison staring Merrel Streep and Clint Eastwood. Nyrzha made this delicious cake call Pastel de atun (cake of tuna) for dinner; very simple: 2 cans of tuna, 3 eggs, chopped onion, chopped tomato, mustard sauce, parsley and silanthro - mix all together place in casserole dish and bake on high heat. The tuna cake was so delicious and so easy to make I will surely be replicating this dish in the future.
