After a fairly chilly night I was up bright and early with the sun and waiting around for breakfast. Breakfast was very basic and consisted of stale bread, jam and caramel sause, a tiny amount of scrambled eggs and some rice crisp chip things, 1 orange with hot chocolate and tea. The 5 of us scoffed everything down and Sven had a packet of Granola we also demolished in the process. By 7:45am the patrol was loaded up and we were off ready for our swim in the thermal springs and to see the famous green lake. The first stop was a bit of a lake with a nice mountain for a backdrop - we grabbed some photos and continued on. Next up was a salt flat where there were workers processing salt from the lake, a few more photos and we were off again. Arriving next at the thermals was a real treat and we were one of the first cars there so we managed to get the thermals to ourselves for a short while. The sun was beating down the thermal springs were super warm - arghh this is heaven. It was so nice to have a warm bath after a freezing night lastnight and no warm shower for about 4 days. 20 minutes in the thermal was enough and it was really starting to heat up so we all decided to call it quits and dry off a bit before jumping back in the wagon. By this time the small thermal bath was full of people and it was a good time to leave. The next stop was definitely the highlight of the day; The Green Lake which as we arrived literally changed colours infront of us from a dark blue to a bright aqua green. Words can not describe how breathtaking the image was of a bright green lake with a volcano as its backdrop, you literally could not take a bad photo and the 40 or so tourists just stood jaws dropped looking in sheer amazement. Within 30 minutes Señora had lunch served. A delicious vegetable salad with broccoli, coliflour, carrots, beans and Tomatos, pasta, potatoes and beef and vegetable meatballs and for desert papaya coated in sugar. It's a funny situation here when food is served; everyone piles there plates then scoffs the food down as quick as possible so to get back for seconds before anyone else can and the worst thing is I am doing the exact same dam thing. We back tracked a bit before arriving at the Geysers - these incredible holes in the ground were spurting hot steam 20 meters in the air. We took some funny photos and then piled back in the car and headed for our next destination: the red lake. The red lake was also very scenic and contained 100s of red and white flamencos, we were given an our or so to walk around the lake. A few more stops and then we arrived at our accommodation for the night in Villa Mar. It was about an hour to dark so me and a few of the lads decided to hike up the towns station of the cross - we got to see a nice sunset then headed back down to our camp. Hot tea and biscuits were waiting for us when we arrived back and then an hour later dinner was served. For dinner we had a nice vegetable soup again followed by Lomo Saltado - beef, onions, peppers, sausages on a bed of chips and tinned peaches for dessert. Señora then came and gave us a rundown of tomorrow's possible routes that we could decide on. The whiskey come out again and we sat around chatting for a while before calling it another early night.
