We have travelled north over the last week and we are now south of Salta. The terrain has been very desert like and the roads are awful again. The last week has gone by so quickly I feel that I need to catch up. We waited in Santiago to try and pick up a parcel that Alexander has posted to us but it has not arrived. We spent a couple of days on the coast near Valparaiso an area of huge sandy beaches and very big surf. Terry and I finally left El Calafate on Wed afternoon as J and P are due to get their truck back tomorrow and will follow on. El Chalten is a mountain town surrounded by high snow topped mountains and glaciers. The highest Fitzroy is particularly impressive because it's steep sides are too steep for the snow to settle on it. We have been here for a week now as Peter's truck needs a new turbo and it had to be ordered from Buenos Aries. The weather continues to be very kind to us and most days are sunny and warm at least some of the time. A big hello to all our friends at Pendine thanks for your blog entry's ,it's always great to hear from all who are following our trip.The end of the world was fantastic all the famous place names crossing the Straits of Magellan and standing at the edge of the Beagle Channel (named after Darwins ship of course) .
