We managed to leave Lima on Saturday morning but due to the traffic which was awful it took us 3 hours to get away from the centre and then the suburbs. The border between Bolivia and Peru was still shut so we took the decision to return to Chile and go to the border from the town of Arica . We entered Peru on Monday and survived the complicated system at customs that saw us joining about 6 different queues and filling in loads of bits of paper. We made for the nearest town called Tacna, parked and went in search of somewhere to stay.
