Sunday we all went to FU's for dinner and to see his photos of our holiday to Bordeaux. We gorged on FU's home made pizza, IP's home made vegetable tart and, of course, mine and LA's rocky road. Never say we don't share the wonders of our culture with others. We then all gathered round the projection screen (he lives in the sort of student arty house where this is normal) and marvelled at FU and his camera.
Another moan about the teachers here (I'm not actually miserable here, I just like to moan). In abdo-fessiers on Wednesday SA asked us if we wanted to do the practical part of the exam i.e. do as many laps as you can in 22 minutes, so we thought we might as well get it over with. As you go round each time you say your name and she marks down the laps. However, she has a record for being unable to count correctly, so we decided to count ourselves as well. It was all going well until lap 9, when we came round the corner and she was on the phone (a regular occurance in our lessons). We called our names but clearly she didn't mark it down because the next lap she said the same number. At the end LA went over and said that we'd done 12 not 11 but all she said was "No, you did 11 and I'm not changing it". Unbelievable.
Another unfortunate event that has befallen me is the fact that my CB was cut up in front of me Thursday. I was in town and when I tried to use it in a shop or make a withdrawal it wouldn't work. The last time this happened was when I ran out of money and forgot to do a transfer but this time I was sure I had plenty in my account. I went to LCL in town but they said only the ACTUAL bank where you got the card can tell you what's wrong. So I had to go almost all the way home to see what was wrong. Mr Banker then said that they had sent 2 letters asking me to bring my passport, but I hadn't, so they'd stopped my card. Even when I explained that he had a copy of my passport he just gallic shrugged and said they needed it again. He then cut my card up and said "This is useless now". I then had to rush home, collect my passport and bring it back to them so they could photocopy it AGAIN before they closed. I now have to use my English card for 2 weeks until my new one arrives.
A happy note to end on though is that today was the first of what I'm sure will be many days at the beach. Though for some reason it was quite windy and as a result I'm still trying to get rid of the sand that has caked my body head to toe 3 hours after having a shower. Still, as they say, qui dort dine.
