A day of two halves today.
After changing my modules for what I hope will be the FINAL time I went to have lunch at the campus restaurant for the first time. While I was waiting for the others I thought I'd get my lunch. It truly is my Dad's subsidised university canteen dream. For the miniscule price of 3.05 Euros you have a choice of a starter or vegetable side dish, a hot main meal from a selection of about 6, and a dessert. It's amazing. So I got in the queue to pay but when I was one from the front I realised I had about 1.50 Euros in my purse. So I had to casually leave the queue and hide my dinner in a corner while I made a 15 minute round trip to the nearest cash machine. Luckily it was still there when I got back, and actually very tasty.
As part of your degree here, everyone can take a sport option if they want, worth 2 ECTS. Laura and I decided to do 'abdo-fesses', which we hope is going to be a toning class; but to sign up for it you have to have a medical certificate. So off we went to the doctors and after I explained what I wanted he montioned me to lay down. Then, with no warning he started 'massaging' my stomach with the force of a tank. If that wasn't bad enough my dress started riding up so much that I feared for my modesty. Then he took my blood pressure and checked my chest; after which he said in a voice that can only be described as menacing 'sit up'. He felt my glands etc and finally declared me in a good state of health. As he was writing my note he also refused to believe that Claire Alice was a name in English. Let's just say I won't be signing up with him anytime soon.
